Is Achieve Goal 12 right for you?

Sustainability is no longer a side project for food and drink businesses, it’s a commercial necessity. Customers are asking tougher questions, supermarkets are tightening requirements, and legislation is moving faster than most teams can keep up with. At Achieve Goal 12, we help food and drink businesses turn this pressure into confidence and a credible action plan.

We work with organisations who care about doing the right thing but need structured, practical support to make sustainability achievable. Whether you’re taking your first steps or ready to build a full board‑level strategy, our services are designed to meet you where you are and move you forward with a plan.

Who we work with

Our clients typically fall into two groups.

Some are large food manufacturers with complex supply chains, established operations and growing scrutiny from customers, auditors and regulators. They often have pockets of sustainability activity happening across the business but no single, coherent strategy that ties it all together.

Others are SMEs where sustainability is driven by owners or senior leaders. They’re motivated, committed and often already doing good work, but they don’t have the internal expertise to structure it, document it or communicate it effectively.

Across both groups, we hear the same frustrations:

“We know we need to do something about sustainability, but we don’t know where to start.” “Our customers are asking questions we can’t answer yet.” “We’re worried about upcoming regulations but don’t have the expertise in‑house.”

Our packaged services are built directly around these challenges, giving you structure and a credible plan you can act on immediately.

Retailer Sustainability Audit

The problem

Food manufacturers are getting harder sustainability questions from retail buyers and don’t have clear answers. They want to get on top of it but think it means expensive consultants or a strategy overhaul they don’t have time for. We give you defensible answers fast, so you stop worrying about what the next buyer conversation is going to surface.

Outcome

We provide you with a high-level assessment of your strengths and weaknesses against the requirements of your key retail customers. This gap analysis allows you to understand where you need to focus effort in order to win or retain business.

Sustainability Strategy Development and Reporting

The problem

Food manufacturers know they need a sustainability strategy but don’t know where to start, and assume building one from scratch means months of work that produces a document nobody reads. We build you a strategy grounded in your business, your sector, and what retailers actually need to see, so you have something credible to act on rather than a framework that sits on a shelf.

Outcome

We work across your organisation to develop and embed a credible sustainability strategy that positions you as a leading supplier of choice. We support with full end-to-end development through to reporting that meets necessary industry or regulatory standards.

Carbon Footprint Reporting and Reduction Plan

    The problem

Sustainability leads know their carbon reduction plan probably wouldn’t survive a serious challenge but think fixing it means admitting the last report was wrong and going back to square one. We work with what you have and make it robust, so you can put the numbers in front of anyone without that nagging doubt and help you to build a coherent and compliant plan to hit sector targets.

    Outcome

We support teams to develop or refine their carbon data and put in place a robust and compliant carbon reduction plan, meeting the requirements of their sector. We help build capability within the business to ensure that this becomes business as usual activity rather than a standalone annual exercise needing expensive consultancy support.

    EcoVadis Fast-Track

    The problem

Food manufacturers under pressure to hit or improve an EcoVadis score have no idea where the gaps actually are and assume closing them means creating policies and documentation from scratch. We show you exactly what’s missing and fix only that, so the score improves without it becoming a six month project.

    Outcome

We provide full end-to-end support for building your response and completing EcoVadis, giving you confidence and clarity on the requirements and supporting you with correct and approve documentation.

    Embedding Sustainability into Operations

    The problem

Most food manufacturers have a sustainability strategy, but the people who actually actually deliver the work, commercial, NPD/R&D, marketing, operations, technical, have never had it translated into language they can work with. They know their operations inside out but nobody has connected the dots between the group strategy and the work they are already doing. We bridge that gap, so sustainability stops feeling like a head office initiative and starts showing up in the decisions and improvements your teams are already making every day.

    Outcome

We work with site teams to identify or review opportunities and translate group strategy into tangible short, medium and long term operational actions.

    More Info

    Deliverables

    • Review of existing group strategy
    • Site visit to identify opportunities
    • Functional translation workshop
    • Functional action plan with owners, timelines and KPIs
    • Governance structure including steering committee setup
    • One-page summary for each functional area

    Climate Risk and Resilience Mapping

    The problem

Food manufacturers know climate change is becoming a real risk to their supply chain, but few have actually put a number on it. They can point to the obvious things, a bad harvest, a flooded supplier site, a heatwave pushing input costs up overnight, but nobody has worked out which suppliers and sites are most exposed, or what that means for sourcing decisions, contract negotiations and margin. The real gaps are procurement get hit by supply chain disruption, operations see more downtime, and commercial need to negotiate cost price increases, and if nobody knows where the next shock is coming from until it’s already hit then you’re on the back foot. We also have disclosure requirements landing in 2027 which means regulators, retailers and investors are starting to ask the question too.

    Outcome

We define, map, and quantify your exposure across suppliers, sites and distribution, so procurement, operations and commercial teams know where to diversify sourcing, where to build in contingency, and where the risk actually sits.

    More Info

    Deliverables

    • Climate risk review process
    • Physical risk quantification (extreme weather, water stress, crop failure) against cost and availability
    • Supplier and site location vulnerability/exposure assessment
    • Resilience and mitigation action plan
    • Disclosure-ready summary aligned to UK SRS requirements
    • One-page board briefing
    • Data visualisation development options

    How we work

Our approach is deliberately practical. We don’t produce theoretical reports that sit on shelves, we build plans your team can use immediately. Everything we deliver is aligned with supermarket requirements, regulatory frameworks and certification standards, so your sustainability work supports commercial outcomes, and not just compliance.

We work collaboratively with your internal teams, building capability rather than creating dependency. And because we specialise in food and drink manufacturing, our recommendations are grounded in real operational realities, and not generic consultancy templates.

    Ready to get started?

If you’re ready to strengthen your sustainability position, we’d love to talk. Whether you want to explore a specific package or simply understand where to begin, our team can guide you through the options and help you choose the right option for you and your team.
